The dynamic return of Hixxy, Sharkey and Sy - back by public demand.

Yes, believe it or not, the Bonkers hardcore craze has returned to prominence in the wake of the 'old school/retro' revival and is currently enjoying its most successful phase since React released Bonkers 3 in '97, which went on to sell over 90,000 units. In fact, over the last nine months, Bonkers has outstripped most other titles to become React's second biggest selling line in the UK, after original chillout series, CafEDel Mar. It's been two and a half years since (Bonkers 7) hardcore's main voice for new music wreaked havoc in the national top 20 and flew the flag for a truly underground club scene. Its absence also left a void in the club compilation market, not satisfied by the relentless oversupply of hard house and trance tomes. So following hundreds of requests of "When's Bonkers 8 coming?", React are issuing a suitably raucous response in the shape of "Bonkers EThe Rezerrection", a triple CD (for the price of a double) featuring hardcore legends Hixxy and Sharkey rinsing out the latest sounds, while Sy mixes up the best of long-unavailable Bonkers 1 & 2 on the bonus disc.

Virtually mirroring the pre-corporate clubbing madness of the mid-nineties, hardcore is enjoying a massive renaissance as the suburban and even provincial cousin of drum & bass while attracting a whole new crowd of young ravers in the process. In fact events like Slammin' Vinyl and United Dance still have the two youth-orientated sounds twinned, albeit in separate rooms these days. Scene stalwarts, Hixxy and Sharkey, who are still only in their mid-twenties, have continued to produce music, run labels and DJ on the scene, with Sharkey even finding time to teach music technology to the next generation of music makers, in-between producing and A&R'ing for the Nu-nrg group of labels. Likewise Portsmouth-based Hixxy runs and records for the popular Raver Baby label while continuing to be one of the biggest draws on the scene and with up to 6 gigs a weekend in his diary (including under-18 Tee n Dreem events), he's currently busier than a lot of mainstream DJs. Meanwhile club scene veteran Sy, who together with musical partner Unknown produces as Trick Or Treat, has recently enjoyed successful forays into hard house and 2-step, even charting top 20 with his remix of Baby D's "Let Me Be Your Fantasy".

Bonkers - The Rezurrection features tracks from the scene's key players including Scott Brown, Brisk, Energy, Dougal, Fade, Storm, Styles and Breeze, while Sy's old skool mix celebrates hardcore classics incl "Rainbow Islands" by Seb, Sharkey's "Revolution", Force & Styles "All Systems Go" and the all-time anthem and inspiration for Bonkers, Hixxy & Sharkey's "Toytown".
