DJ Ham
Next Generation Records / Blatant Beats

Brisk and Ham the wizards of hardcore
Q: Who are you, where you from, what do you do?
A: Brisk: I'm Paul. I'm from Southampton, a city located on the south coast of England and I make funny noises in the studio and then play those noises in clubs and raves at the weekend!
Ham: I'm Hamilton. I'm from London, England and I also make noise with my equipment (oo-er!)

Q: How did you choose your DJ / artist name?
A: Ham: Ham is an abbreviation of my first name Hamiton(!)
Brisk: 'Brisk' was my graffiti tag back in the days of breakdancing etc.. it stuck.

Q: Got into hardcore when and why?
A: Ham: First got into it in 1990.. drawn to it because the music was new and exciting.
Brisk: went through the early Rap scene from about 1986 then into House around 1988 then the early breakbeat Hardcore sounds from 1989/90 onwards.. why? because it was fresh and innovative.. and great fun to party too.. it was my first true love!!!

Q: How many track releases you have under your belt
A: Ham: no idea.. loads!
Brisk.. sorry, but ditto.. too many out there!

Q: What is your future plans for hardcore for the year ahead?
A: Ham: I'm keen to develop the Breakbeat sound of Hardcore myself and will be working on some new ideas
Brisk: I'll be attending to the Harder end of the scale but maintaining the upflfting side of things too.

Q: What are your current involvements or projects you are working on?
A: Brisk & Ham: We've just completed our long awaited double CD featuring heaps of new unreleased material as well as as some current and earlier material - this has been a long drawn out process for us but its finally come to fruition at last! In addition to this we are continually adding to our roster and have numerous new faces and tracks ready to release on vinyl.

Q: What do you think the future hardcore styles will be or evolve into?
A: Brisk & Ham: No idea really! There are so many different styles around at the moment which can only mean good news for the scene, after all, variety is the spice of life as they say.

Q: Favorite record label?
A: Ham: Next Generation & Blatant Beats
Brisk: There are too many labels to pin-point any one in particular, but I would tend to agree with Ham to a degree as we run both our Hardcore labels exactly how we want them to be.. its a very personal thing for us and we take immense pride in what we do.

Q: Favorite DJ (other than yourself)?
A: Ham: DJ Raze
Brisk: No-one favourite.. far too many talented DJs out there to choose just one.. sorry.

Q: Best / favorite hardcore moment?
A: Ham: Slashing MC Storm's arm with a plastic knife whilst en-route to Minneapolis from Toronto.. that was a long road trip!
Brisk: My birthday party @ Club Kinetic where I got to choose the line-up.. we had 3000 people in there and I got given the biggest card I have ever seen with thousands of signatures on it!! It was a great night and felt really good to be so appreciated from my crowd (I was resident there for 4 years so I refer to them as 'my' crowd).

Q: Worst hardcore moment?
A: Brisk & Ham: Getting ripped off and let down by so called 'friends' within the industry.

Q: What you do in your spare time?
A: Ham: Socialise, chill and masturbate.
Brisk: Watch movies, play squash and get drunk.

Q: You have a web site?
A: http://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk

Q:
You have a public contact email address?
A: Ham: ham@nextgenerationrecords.co.uk
   Brisk: brisk@nextgenerationrecords.co.uk

Q: What's your message to all the hardcore punters all over the world?
A: Brisk & Ham: Keep enjoying the Hardcore vibes wherever it takes you, but, above all, do it safetly. Thanks for all your support - without you there really is no point! Respect!
