Doc McFly94 Hey guys, it's been a while. Hope you are all well. I was wanting to know how to make the fat offbeat bass heard in alot of the stuff between 2007 and 2009. I've been relying on presets but I want to make it myself. I just need the basic formula. I'd prefer to use synth1 since that's my go to synth. Thanks in advance.
Guest a preset will generally create the same sound on any synth providing you are able to use the same OSC waveforms

I've been doing them in Sylenth1.
Here's a video tutorial from 2011 that hammers one down...It's pretty close to how I achieve it:

Captain Triceps I have thousands of Synth1 presets but if you want to learn how to do it without simply fiddling around and stumbling across the sound then search on Youtube. There are tutorials for everything, or at least something close to what you want.
9oh9 Basic recipe I often use is a PWMed square wave, with a triangle pitched an octave down under that. Stick a low pass filter on it with an envelope to close it, play around with the cutoff and resonance to taste. Bit of distortion, and that should get you in the right ballpark.
Shades excellent starting point is to download FATSYN by cubic audio

the hardcore preset does need tweaking, sub etc but hey i won't spoil all your fun :D
