Allan Murray
Dave Murray I say please stop calling it "happyhardcore" as happyhardcore is dead now.

Who says it is?

I don't call it anything of the sort and never will.
As far as i'm concerned, it's hardcore and nothing else.
People might want to put labels on it but that's up to them - why bother calling it 'Nu-skool'? People know what it is.

Nu-Skool is the name for it weither you agree with it all not. Hardcore is the name for all the old stuff, i.e Mark E.G and Clarkee from old dreamscapes.

djDMS Sorry mate but i'm not buying that at all.

I haven't seen one single example of this so-called 'nu skool' anywhere.

People might use the term when trying to categorise the history of hardcore but that's not to say everybody calls it that.

Take the examples you used for instance - Mark EG & Clarkee played totally different styles yet they were both Hardcore?

It's all down to interpretation isn't it?

I'm with you on this one DMS I just call it Hardcore if i'm refering to old hardcore then I call it Happy Hardcore!! Just cause you call the new stuff NuSkool does'nt mean that if somebody calls it Hardcore there talking about the wrong thing!!

That's because Hardcore arenas cover more than one style of hardcore.

In all fairness most people on this site are young and only got into 'hardcore' when nu-skool first came about so only know it as 'hardcore'. I have spoken to quite alot of people who have been into hardcore since the early nineties and they all call it Nu-skool. I even have a couple of old CD's somewhere which state that it is nu-skool.

Stony McTony its hardcore, jus hardcore. old stuff happy hardcore, new stuff hardcore.

Its definitely NOT hard trance

Theres nothing wrong with the boat those big holes help keep our feet cool.
bulby_g HARDCORE

Definately not nu-skool if they called it that it would sound pretty stupid when they start up the old-skool new-skool arena in 10 years time. New-skool is just a phrase used to explain that you are talking about the current sound/trend in that genre.

Seany Well tbh, Im not fussed aslong as the stupid Nappy Hardcore tag is dropped.

mark-ireland Ye id only say nu skool if i was explaining it to someone that didnt really understand the two sounds. But id still class oldskool as hardcore.

Dj DaBiZz In Spain we called UK Hardcore at all new of scott brown, breeze&styles, hixxy, brisk, dougal&gammer, etc... 'uk hardcore' is similar at 'new makina'

We call HArdcore at all of Paul Estack, stunned guys, endymion, castcan.....

Example:

Scott Brown - Make the beat drop ---> Uk hardcore
Scott Brown - Payback ---> Hardcore
Breeze & Styles - You're shining ---> Uk hardcore
Nosferatu vs Endymion - Stay focussed ---> Hardcore

but.. I don´t like hardcore, I like Uk Hardcore ;)

Charco I've always called it happy hardcore....

I called it Happy Hardcore back in the early days.....and still call it Happy Hardcore now.

When Trance changed (From the older to the newer sounds).....the name didn't change did it?

Suppose everyone just calls it what their used to calling it....

Blasfamy!!!!! Happy Hardcore will never die!! the new breed of nu skool ravers aren't as aware of it but happy hardcore will never never die!! it is alive in all of us!! it drives us to "fist punch the smoke filled air with a gurning smile that would scare small children"(lisa lashes----sounds appropriate[:_]) any way happy hardcore is the influence for new skool if happy hardcore is dead then new skool is sped up trance and i truly don't think so
That would be my view any way

It died in 2000. Some new Happyhardcore tune's though..

Dejavu dejavu...

ProjectXcore
chestah Let's see...

As for me, i call it UK hardcore for all the present Hixxy and Scott Brown like stuff, cuz the sound of UK-based hardcore is totally different than other-countrys-based stuff which is more trancey or freeform or whatever. No "Nu skool" term for me, although it can be used I think...

Those ancient stuff before '94 is actually old-skool Hardcore Techno, and it has nothing common with the later Happy Hardcore.

And finally, look at the url above and stfu

Andrew184 Personally I class hardcore as the early breakbeat style. Happy hardcore is the more vocally tunes after when the kickdrum started appearing around the time of Toytown. SO yeah, i suppose technically the new style of hardcore is 'nu-skool'.

Charco Does it actually really matter what people call it???

It's kinda like "Tomato" or TomAto"....doesn't matter.

As long as we are all listenin and loving the same .....That's what it's all about... imo anyway...

If it 'died' why do happy hardcore Tunes get more cheers and fill dance floors quicker than any other style of hardcore?

If it moves, eat it. If not wait until it does moves and then eat it.

That's not the principle, Ofcourse the old stuff is still called Happy Hardcore. What im saying is there's very little HHC track's getting produced these day's.

ProjectXcore
slavetomysoundwave I, personally, class RB type tunes as happy hardcore. Yeah, they have trancy riffs etc but its really just an evolution of the older style more than anything else. All music scenes must evolve or they'll die.

It's not the same as the old tunes, but they still have a happy essence - and besides, nu-skool hardcore is a sh*te name. I hate that term which seems to get taped onto everything these days.

People don't call new hip-hop anything different because it doesn't sound the same as Eric B and Rakim, so why should the name happy harcore be dropped?

gottagofast247 i think hardcore is my favorite.
i strated off listening to hard house, then trance and then a dear raver across the road gave me a slammin vynl tape and ever sinse then i luved hardcore and drum n bass :D

i prefer nu skl stuff tho, old skl jus dusnt quite sound rite.
