Im going to a rave on May 22nd, and it features Hard dance, Psy Trance, industrial, and.....Happy Hardstyle? what is that? Im assuming it basically like Happy Hardcore or Uk Hardcore but just with the speed, bass, and bassline as Hardstyle. |

I think whoever did the event listing just made that up, there is no actual genre called Happy Hardstyle. |

well there is jumpstyle, which is supposed to be a little happier and more commercialized, but i don't think this would fall into that category |

Hardstyle is usually at around 140 BPM, maybe they sped it up to 170? Also, it may just sound happier like Revs said, this song sounds happier lol. Maybe its in a regular key rather than a minor... like that "nu-hardstyle" the global hardstyle forum was bitching about, I really only listen to trance and HHC with occasional dubstep or gabber, so I can't be certain. |

yea I guess the main diference must be the change from minor and arabian scales (used by most hardstyle) to major scales. |

I hate the scales used in Hardstyle these days, all tunes are the ****ing same. Doesn't even suit the genre. |

I have always thought that track sounds weird. might be the major scale you mentioned. it was one of the opening tracks for d-block & s-te-fan at defqon 08, am I correct?

Happy Hardstyle has been evolving in the last 6 years greatly. A new sub-gengre of Hardstyle known as "Euphoric Hardstyle" popularized the feel good melodies and with the Tweekaz and Darren Styles teaming up this year with "Tweekacore" I think 2018 will be recieving alot of my my faviroite Happy Hardstyle.
