Team Runner Is similar to UK hardcore, including elements of bouncy techno and hardtrance and characterized by mixing at a fast tempo (from 150 to 180 BPM), bass kicks and catchy melodies.

5:00 lol

Also known for mixing Hardstyle and Hard Trance at that tempo.

The users from england sure know this

I will be updating this thread with the best Makina tunes and mixes

See ya!
Team Runner Starting with this gem:

It does depend from which web page you want to embed from (for example youtube: simply type [ youtube ] track's combination [everything in the link after the "="] and [/youtube] - only without the spaces within [].
Anyway, it just extreamly slows down loading time as hell so you better only simply post the link. Every interested person will click on it and give it a shot.
latininxtc You don't have to type out the youtube and the boxes anymore. Just click on the button between the ABC and the Soundcloud logo and there you have it.

I like Makina too, and I was disappointed that I didn't get a chance to go to a Makina party/event when I was in Spain last year. I have no idea where to look or go for one. Team Runner if I were to ever make it back there again, where in Madrid or Barcelona can I find a place that plays Makina?

Pont Aeri or Xque, if both still exist, would be in Barcelona.

And hello Team Runner, we aren't that unfamiliar with Makina ;)
Team Runner Pont Aeri now is on a Tour around Spain. His disco (the local) is now in hands of Xque.

In August 17 Xque makes a foam party with Dj Pastis, Sepi&Bull and some other good deejays, i wouldn't miss it!

Fraktal 6, wich gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it

PS: The word "pastis" comes from "pastillas" (like see ya -> see you) and pastillas means drugs in english: Dj Pastis = Dj Drugs hahaha

Yeah many people think pre 1999 tunes are by far the best ones.

I think not, there are many tunes 2010ish that can rock hard the floor, like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP75zjqFFV4

Charger I'm quite curious though, the recent makina releases are mostly categorized as Evolutive Makina (e.g releases from Sinthetic Records and Makinaforce Recordings).

What is Evolutive Makina and how does it differs from oldschool makina?

I think they call it evolutive makina for distinguish of the old makina. New makina sounds quite different due to the vst's and all that producers stuff, but the structure and that falco is the same.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b4-cSEQNyE

The piano stuff remembers me of Scooter (the Germany band) haha

And this was "Mega Aplec Dance" (in english something like "Mega Dance Meet"), a Techno Music festival in Barcelona from 1998-2002 which had Trance, Hardcore, Makina... deejays that gathered 20-30k people.

I'm glad he's still alive

DJ_Dawn yes I like Desk from what I've seen. Never been there sadly.

But it looks like a lot of fun, the people party very hard and the DJs are awesome!

Meke I love makina that goes near to 90s style hardtrance in some ways.

DJ_Dawn I think one of the most overlooked positive / fascinating aspects of Makina is the way the DJs mix. As a DJ I am of course more interested in that than many others but it is very common for Makina DJs to use three or even four (vinyl!) decks at the same time.

In many of the videos, you will see two decks playing (on air) while the DJ is dancing, looking for the next records or cueing it up to mix with. All this while keeping two decks in sync.

Carl Cox was know to do this and called the "three deck wizard" for it, and in spain there are many very little know DJs who do the same, and with ease! If you look at the discussion about DJ Vibes' mixing skills it becomes even more clear. I have also seen many well known DJs that have a hard time keeping only two vinyls together for one transition thats longer than 20 seconds. The Makina guys have records playing together for minutes and work with a third (or fourth) record on top of that! The results are sometimes a bit strange to listen to at first (often, there is one melodic records and a noisy/squeaky records on top), but technically it is very fascinating. Especially if you think how f*cked up some of the guys are while doing it :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgC7gtRKEjk&list=PLD2AE14C4AE195D10&index=37

there is a good example of how hard Pastis works while playing. total respect from here :D
Samination OH don't get me started on that. The Last few livesets I've heard (on youtube] that uses 3+ decks where horrendous, but that didnt stop people from enjoying it I guess :P
DJ_Dawn well for example the vid I posted on the last page
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pfjss-vWYw8
has two decks playing all the time and he uses the vocal/noise track really nicely to add to the main track. nothing horrendous there for me!

Im from spain and makina is (al least here) died and buried. Pastis is the only one that survived, but hes retiring at the end of the year. Djs like requena, buenri or ruboy play nowadays commercial house lol.
There are very few events in a year, and pont aeri closed last december I think.

Im 18 and if you say to someone you like makina they will think you are a junkie, mainly by incivlity, because in the past, like the half of people took drugs, but not everyone.

These are some of my favs, must listen

--> dj el brujo, that sadly passed away

DJ_Dawn in the early 90s, most people thought anyone who was listening to any sort of techno was a drug addict :(

How about Xavi BCN and David Traya...is their tracks, lets say 2008-2010 and foward releases called makina or something else?

Well M-Project from Japan is still producing makina thats sounds like it used to be.

Well I think Makina is not dead, Pont Aeri stills rocking but not in their disco, they rent discos for making their events, because they are on a tour (an they will do events outside spain soon)

This was "PONT AERI on tour TERRASSA", they rented the original pont aeri disco, A M?kina event with more than 500 people:

A new work of CJ Alarm:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAcW9uebd6E

In Spain everyone thinks you get drugs and those things especially if you don't do what others do. If you listen music that is not played in the radio you have a "special problem"

Also Pastis is not retiring at the end of the year, the is only taking a kit kat ;)
nantk agree 100%
Samination Anyways, I wont stop mixing makina into my Brittish Hardcore sets, just like I always mix Freeform and Gabber :)
Team Runner Not a Makina set but this was played at Xque a while ago:

Yes this is true.

What I most love in sessions is that the dj has a 2 deck mix (tune + base) playing through the speakers and another 2 deck mix (tune + base) through the headpones, and the dj plays with them -> with the 2 deck trhough the speakers he plays with the base or the tune of the headphones, it's amazing and it's one of the few genres that is mixed in that way.

yes yes, 3 deck playing at the same time is ugly as f*ck, but we (i think) say is 2 deck playing and 1 or 2 on the headphones, and play with these, never 3 at the same time

I think uk hardcore, hardstyle (pitch up), and makina and all those genres mix very well, even music genres that are not one of those can mix well :)

I did not mean at the same time, tho who is stopping them? :)

There's only a few hardstyle tracks I can count one five fingers (ok only one finger) that I actually like, because it's just dutch hardcore slowed down anyways.

I think he is meaning oldskool hardstyle tracks that Spanish makina DJs speeded up and are used as "base" tracks. Those are near to Spanish "base" tracks, only bpm is different. Nowdays hardstyle is whole much different thing than it used to be in early 2000.

Here is example of oldskool hardstyle track.

And here DJ Pastis is using track above as a base track

Samination I hate the Base tracks so you know why i wouldnt like hardstyle either ;)

Oh, i see :D No worry then.
I myself like like acid base tracks cause they resembles me some of 90s acid tracks.

Anyway here is pretty nice makina track.

Samination And for you spanish people. is Maquina the same as Makina, as a different way of spelling or pronouncing it. Or is it completly different?

Yes its spelled the same but it has not the same meaning, maquina is spanish techno pre 1994 and makina what started about in 1994 with tracks like The First rebirth and outside world, they were the inspiration of the initial Makina

and about acid Makina, Meke, give a look at this:

He wasn't a big player, just a little fella making music at home. I haven't seen anything from him for 2-3 years now
DJB@man Makina isn't dead in Spain and is alive and kicking in NE England! 1 event runs in Spain I know of at the minute, and another is starting up soon.
Invi and Pucho run Makinarium https://www.facebook.com/groups/544106952292007/?fref=ts and Mirakle Records (still producing makina) start Turbulence soon https://www.facebook.com/events/356469854486252/

Also there is a huge new and old makina scene in England with loads of big and small events, Hangar 13, Clash of the Titans and Tribal Church are the bigger ones. Plus there are lotsof fresh uk producers, the Monta Musica label probs being the main one currently releasing.

Makina is fun to mix (long mixes possible) as not as complex and has less structure variation than uk hardcore and is bouncy as hell :-) I used to play it all the time but now more into uk core.

Think my favourite tune is Dimensional just for the kick off after the 1st breakdown (when you can still be mixing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ykfLBN490Y

Yeah it's still alive in NE. Dj nemesis, Corecreator, monta music label, Pj makina, garymc, ect..
Samination compared to Japan tho, it's dead :P
Meke In my mind makina is (at the moment) evolving or merging to freeform and hardtrance. Sure there will be producers who are doing oldskool makina tunes.
