DJ_FunDaBounce Anyone here tried out Reason 9.5 yet?

really tempted to upgrade my version 4.

ViolonC Have been using reason ever since. Haven't really tried VSTs yet but from what i heard it runs really smooth. Reason on it's own has a few shortcomings out of the box regarding dance music, but with VSTs and REs they can be easily overcome. The workflow and modulation possibilities are amazing as ever and Reason has probably by far the best stock synths of all the big DAWs. You also get players that can be really fun. And another thing for all the Cubase/FL users: Reason is super stable. Have had Reason crash on me less than 5 times per year.
DJ_FunDaBounce are you on 9.5 without VST's? I tried out the demo version for 9.2 right before they announced the .5 release. It was super smooth. just wondering what it's like sound-wise with VSTs. I somehow feel that the mixer adds some coloration to the sound.
Guest so after 14 odd years they have finally added VST's, reason is a joke, you want reaper
kotu no you want a senquencer i made call aids baby it is just a black screen which wipes your hard drive. joey riot??

Neither sensical nor funny. :P
thedjjudah I use Reason 9.5 but I don't use VSTs. Sometimes I think about getting some but I always come back to Thor. Z3TA+ 2, Diva, and a few others seem ok, but none of them have the modulation capabilities and flexibility that Thor does. I've been using reason since version 4, and I can't believe how versatile it is, although it is really old.

About VST effects - I don't need 10 different effect plugins. To me, EQ is EQ, reverb is reverb, compression is compression. Sure, different effect plugins sound a little different, but not enough to be noticeable in the mix.

Thanx for the reply. I actually had a test drive of 9.5 shortly after I posted. for some reason (pun) I was allowed the full trial even after testing out version 9 the month before.
anywhoo, made a track on it. I think it went well. it was really stable. vst integration seemed well implemented, but as I suspected, there is coloration of the mixer compressor and master chain all over the place. I know I could turn them off and make a template, but my original attraction to it was in part 64bit rewire to use along cubase but in the end it felt like it was overkill. on it's own it's a really good package, though.

I've been using the energy xt re-wire vst thing to hook it up to 64 bit cubase which allows me the use of thor and combinators, still.

yum yum. :9
kotu You do know that 32 bit programs run as 64 bit programs when run on a 64 bit operating system, right?

I'm not a programmer so I don't know the details. What I do know is that the native re-wire that comes with Cubase only runs if it's paired with the equal bit equivalent of Reason. It's a fact of DAW life.
