Can anyone please tell me the difference between the:

Gemini XL-500 turntable

and the

Gemini Gemini Pt-2100 turntable?

(Would it matter for a starting deck? Which one should I purchase?)

the 2100's have a higher torque on them as well, the 500's are basic direct drives

i noticed with mixing on the 500's that when you speed the platter up to cue the beats it flies on ahead,do the pt series do that too?

the 500's speed up too fast when you push the button and too slow when you push the other, you can't win,go for the pt series

I think the PT-2100s have a very soft pitch control as well, as in it doesn't react exactly immediately to pitch changes (not lagging but definitely not speeding up too quickly). I like this though because the platter is light and so you have a little more control over the record (or I should say you learn to have more because it's a must). I've usually got my finger going round and round on the label tossing the record forward or halting it for a second to get up or down to speed. My friend with techs says the soft pitch on my decks take some getting used to but when I go on his techs I have an easy enough time. At this point it's become so second nature to me that I just enjoy having the extra 2% pitch range, and the fact that I got both my decks for the price of one technic. If I had lots of cash I'd get techs and just pitch em up for sure, but my gemini's do me right for now and have shown no signs of degradation in the time I've used em.

get tech 12's sure they cost a bit more but they'll last sdo much longer and they're just all in all worth it. theyre also the standard tables in clubs and raves worldwide , that sayd it all don't it?
