K, I have a Korg ES1, and it's pretty cute, but I want to upgrade to a real sampler now. I have looked around a lot and what I have come up with is the Akai 5000, the Yamaha S4000-S5000 and the EME E6400 Ultra. I read reviews at one synth site and everyone seemed to really like the Yamahas and Emu's and rag on the Akai's a lot. But the ppl that owned the Akai's seem to love them. Has anyone used any (or especially all) of these before? I am leaning toward the EMU, but only cause it has a blue screen (lol) and ppl seem to like it just a tad more. Thanks ^_^

How about goin into a shop and asking if u can try them out and see which one u like the best.

No shops around me have them is the problem. One place has the Akai (Guitar center) but no one carries the others :(

I've been using a Yamaha A3000 .. rater decent. With the espansion/effects card.
The interface is pretty good as well . the knobs are kinda twithcy but it's effective. Decent filters, a pile of effects on the board, and if you get a harddrive in it, it helps for keepin' yer samples in one place.
The A3000 is sorta a decetn price for a deecent sampler ... used of course.
The EMU's have a sillar interface and a quality sounnd as well (ESP then new 6400 Ultra! ;).
Akais are only decent if you get the higer up in the line with full expansion boards ... and rather pricy. But notable filters .. mmm ;)
But ya .. make sure you get multiple outs .. if you stick with yamaha's or emu's you have pretty decent quaity for the price. And a sampler is really an Essential peice of gear in a studio. So a decent one or 2 is worht the investment.

Heh .. not a problem ... tho all it looks that i did was confirm what you were saying ;)
Yah .. my next sampler will be an EMU just to get a different manufactuer ... and i've been hearing piles of good stuff about the EMU's as well. (and yes .. a second sampler is slowly becomming more and more of a need ;)
