Yeah basically Silver has hit the nail on the head with the gear. Get the best you can afford. It might take you longer to save for it but at the end of the day if you buy shit gear you will just get pissed off and stop DJing.

Shit gear = loss of interest
loss of interest = waste of money spent on shit gear

empty wallet = happy DJ (maybe not empty but u get the idea)

if you need to learn how, htfr.com have a book which comes with two vinyl records for 35 odd quid. Looks quite good to me, i might get it.

Everybody will try drugs at least once in their life

no matter what people with technics tell you..its not the best way for the novice dj.. i suggest you look through a few dj magazines and websites and pick out a starter dj set that you can afford that way if you decide its not for you ..then you havent wasted a shitload of cash on 2x technics 1200s and a ****-off mixer the size of your ma's arse ... aiight? check out www.terralec.com www.htfr.com and dj magazine

I would have to disagree on this with U Trip. If U get used 1200's and a good used mixer sure they will cost you like $800-$1000 dollars, but if you hate DJ'ing or just quit for some reason as long as you didn't break ur gear U can re-sell it for at least what U bought it for if not more. Go buy one of those DJ starter kits for $400-$600 and if you don't like it you just lost yourself a lot of money cause no one wants them and resale value is crap.

Although maybe you could find somone that bought a starter kit and can't sell it and pick it up for like $100. I guess that would be ok, but DO NOT buy one new im warning ya' ^_^

I recommend getting a good mixer and decent decks.................once you learn on alright or cheap decks.............and you get on tecs......................its "simplistic", ....so its kinda like excersising.............get buff on the cheap decks and when you get on the techs you can rock
