I just added another hundred or so lines to this and brought it back up again. :D
you put me in a trance,
you light up my life,
i'll slap you like a bitch,
i know we can change
The cycle of domestic abuse continues.
sweetheart, it feels like we just met
you're up against the wall,
i have a fairly large penis,
she chose not to cry
Brave girl.
we're on our own now,
why don't you come with me,
this is a virus,
if that's alright with you
Please accept my STDs!

so sorry if i hurt you,
we're on our own now,
i'll take you all around the world,
and shatter your kneecaps
hahahaha
The last line is usually the decider of how much of an anthem it is, I reckon.

I just found the original PHP code I wrote for this but don't have anywhere to host it. I'll post the code at some point. There's a comment in there saying that I was going to vary the length of phrases from 2, 4 or 8 lines to generate more permutations. I'll share the code but I dunno how well it'd work today.
For the current script to have maximum impact (hehe), you had to be around for the '00s era of hardcore. OTOH, there doesn't seem to be universal tracks on the level of "Save Me" or "Heartbeatz" or "Phaze 2 Phaze" etc. nowadays. I picked mostly lines that I knew everyone would recognise (at the time), with a few surprises, and - most importantly - ones I knew would generate the funniest combinations when chucked into a blender. I've been trying to keep abreast of HC but it's hard when you're almost bedbound. There's no easy, centralised database of current artists and labels. I've made very little progress in rebuilding my collection after my catastrophic data loss. (All my code and shit was on a different drive.)
I'm glad everyone had so much fun with this for a while! Some of the ones in this thread are still hilarious. Initially, I wanted the origin to be a mystery but I think I already made it pretty obvious that I created it. :)
What's depressing to me is that I entered every single line by hand in 2012-14 and now I don't even recognise most of the originating tracks anymore. Ugh. My brain is mush, Just kill me now. My only consolation is that I used some niche and flavour-of-the-month tunes that I wouldn't expect to remember.
+10 points to anyone who knows the origin of every line from a complete stanza. Now it's "name the song".
quote: baby i'll let you know,
that's where i wanna be,
we can fly into the ocean sky,
i'll break your neck
Styles & Hypasonic - Baby I'll Let You Know
?
? that one's driving me mad. I wanna say it's something super-obvious, or it's a Rescue & MC Age-O track.
Scott Brown - Neckbreaker
quote: when i see the sunshine,
i wanna be loving to the stars,
give me love, i want affection,
boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing! boing!
Something by Cat Like Thief or Styles?
Breeze v Lost Witness - Loving To the Stars
D:Code - My Direction
Dougal & Gammer - Boing!
