Top three tunes of 2002 so far ( IMO )

"New Blaze Track" ( Luna-c mix ) - Blaze [Masterwax 03]

Absolutely f**ing amazing, does everything right. One of the best tunes Chris has ever worked on, and he's worked on a fair few ;)

The vox are superbly used, and everything from the beats to the breaks, the pianos to the synths, fuses together to form one of the strongest examples yet that Hardcore is back in full effect. Did I mention the vox are superbly used?

"Paradise" - Ruffage [Phase4 02]

Very old-skool breakbeat hardcore sounding, but still fresh and retaining everything that made '93/'94 hardcore euphoric and fresh despite itself.
Inspired, and until the Blaze track looked likely to be my fave tune of '02.

"Darkzone" ( Luna-c remix ) - DJ Storm [Raindance 06]

Another Luna-C track? Not as anthemic as the Blaze track, but no less inspired. Excellent sample use, and almost impossible to pinpoint into a hardcore sub-genre.

I could list another 30 tunes at least that I would credit with showcasing the innovation and variety that the new wave of hardcore has brought, but it's futile.

We've never had it so good.

D.Jay

"Some people see things as they are... and say "Why?"
I dream things that never were, and say "Why Not?" "
