I think they call it evolutive makina for distinguish of the old makina. New makina sounds quite different due to the vst's and all that producers stuff, but the structure and that falco is the same.

The piano stuff remembers me of Scooter (the Germany band) haha

And this was "Mega Aplec Dance" (in english something like "Mega Dance Meet"), a Techno Music festival in Barcelona from 1998-2002 which had Trance, Hardcore, Makina... deejays that gathered 20-30k people.

yes I like Desk from what I've seen. Never been there sadly.

But it looks like a lot of fun, the people party very hard and the DJs are awesome!

I love makina that goes near to 90s style hardtrance in some ways.

I think one of the most overlooked positive / fascinating aspects of Makina is the way the DJs mix. As a DJ I am of course more interested in that than many others but it is very common for Makina DJs to use three or even four (vinyl!) decks at the same time.

In many of the videos, you will see two decks playing (on air) while the DJ is dancing, looking for the next records or cueing it up to mix with. All this while keeping two decks in sync.

Carl Cox was know to do this and called the "three deck wizard" for it, and in spain there are many very little know DJs who do the same, and with ease! If you look at the discussion about DJ Vibes' mixing skills it becomes even more clear. I have also seen many well known DJs that have a hard time keeping only two vinyls together for one transition thats longer than 20 seconds. The Makina guys have records playing together for minutes and work with a third (or fourth) record on top of that! The results are sometimes a bit strange to listen to at first (often, there is one melodic records and a noisy/squeaky records on top), but technically it is very fascinating. Especially if you think how f*cked up some of the guys are while doing it :)

there is a good example of how hard Pastis works while playing. total respect from here :D

OH don't get me started on that. The Last few livesets I've heard (on youtube] that uses 3+ decks where horrendous, but that didnt stop people from enjoying it I guess :P

well for example the vid I posted on the last page
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pfjss-vWYw8
has two decks playing all the time and he uses the vocal/noise track really nicely to add to the main track. nothing horrendous there for me!

I like Makina too, and I was disappointed that I didn't get a chance to go to a Makina party/event when I was in Spain last year. I have no idea where to look or go for one. Team Runner if I were to ever make it back there again, where in Madrid or Barcelona can I find a place that plays Makina?

Im from spain and makina is (al least here) died and buried. Pastis is the only one that survived, but hes retiring at the end of the year. Djs like requena, buenri or ruboy play nowadays commercial house lol.
There are very few events in a year, and pont aeri closed last december I think.

Im 18 and if you say to someone you like makina they will think you are a junkie, mainly by incivlity, because in the past, like the half of people took drugs, but not everyone.

These are some of my favs, must listen

--> dj el brujo, that sadly passed away

in the early 90s, most people thought anyone who was listening to any sort of techno was a drug addict :(

Well I think Makina is not dead, Pont Aeri stills rocking but not in their disco, they rent discos for making their events, because they are on a tour (an they will do events outside spain soon)

This was "PONT AERI on tour TERRASSA", they rented the original pont aeri disco, A M?kina event with more than 500 people:

A new work of CJ Alarm:

In Spain everyone thinks you get drugs and those things especially if you don't do what others do. If you listen music that is not played in the radio you have a "special problem"

Also Pastis is not retiring at the end of the year, the is only taking a kit kat ;)
